Quebec says it will ignore Canada's Criminal Code & legalize euthanasia
On January 15th, Quebec's Social Services Minister, Véronique Hivon, announced that the separatist government would move ahead with legalizing euthanasia, which it euphemistically calls "medical aid in dying". The announcement came after a committee appointed by the province, consisting of members with pro-euthanasia views, reported back to the government with a 400-page report. It recommended the government could try to circumvent the Criminal Code's laws against this form of homicide, by simply repackaging the act of a doctor killing his patient as "medical treatment".
CLC's Quebec branch responds
On the day of the announcement, Georges Buscemi, president of Quebec Life Coalition in Montreal was interviewed by the CBC. He told a reporter that if legalized in Quebec, it would lead down a slippery slope where eventually, Canadian doctors would end up terminating patients without request or consent, now a rampant problem in The Netherlands and Belgium. He predicted the lethal practice would also expand to
killing people who suffer with depression or psychological pain - even though they are not terminally ill -which has also evolved in the other jurisdictions where legalization occurred.
Our Quebec office has gone on to participate in other newspaper, TV and radio interviews in opposition to the government's plans. Watch his interview on Sun News below. Then please Like and Share the link so many other Canadians can learn the truth.
