Pogorârea Sfântului Duh

John 7.37-52, 8.12
On the last day of the feast, the great day, Jesus stood up and proclaimed, “If any one thirst, let him come to me and drink. He who believes in me, as the scripture has said, ‘Out of his heart shall flow rivers of living water.’” Now this he said about the Spirit, which those who believed in him were to receive; for as yet the Spirit had not been given, because Jesus was not yet glorified. When they heard these words, some of the people said, “This is really the prophet.” Others said, “This is the Christ.” But some said, “Is the Christ to come from Galilee? Has not the scripture said that the Christ is descended from David, and comes from Bethlehem, the village where David was?” So there was a division among the people over him. Some of them wanted to arrest him, but no one laid hands on him. The officers then went back to the chief priests and Pharisees, who said to them, “Why did you not bring him?” The officers answered, “No man ever spoke like this man!” The Pharisees answered them, “Are you led astray, you also? Have any of the authorities or of the Pharisees believed in him? But this crowd, who do not know the law, are accursed.” Nicodemus, who had gone to him before, and who was one of them, said to them, “Does our law judge a man without first giving him a hearing and learning what he does?” They replied, “Are you from Galilee too? Search and you will see that no prophet is to rise from Galilee.”
Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world; he who follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

"Iar în ziua cea din urmă - ziua cea mare a sărbătorii - Iisus a stat între ei și a strigat, zicând: Dacă însetează cineva, să vină la Mine și să bea. Cel ce crede în Mine, precum a zis Scriptura: râuri de apă vie vor curge din pântecele lui. Iar aceasta a zis-o despre Duhul pe Care aveau să-L primească acei ce cred în El. Căci încă nu era (dat) Duhul, pentru că Iisus încă nu fusese preaslăvit. Deci din mulțime, auzind cuvintele acestea, ziceau: Cu adevărat, Acesta este Proorocul. Iar alții ziceau: Acesta este Hristosul. Iar alții ziceau: Nu cumva din Galileea va să vină Hristos? N-a zis, oare, Scriptura că Hristos va să vină din sămânța lui David și din Betleem, cetatea lui David? Și s-a făcut dezbinare în mulțime pentru El. Și unii dintre ei voiau să-L prindă, dar nimeni n-a pus mâinile pe El. Deci slugile au venit la arhierei și farisei, și le-au zis aceia: De ce nu L-ați adus? Slugile au răspuns: Niciodată n-a vorbit un om așa cum vorbește Acest Om. Și le-au răspuns deci fariseii: Nu cumva ați fost și voi amăgiți? Nu cumva a crezut în El cineva dintre căpetenii sau dintre farisei?Dar mulțimea aceasta, care nu cunoaște Legea, este blestemată! A zis către ei Nicodim, cel ce venise mai înainte la El, noaptea, fiind unul dintre ei: Nu cumva Legea noastră judecă pe om, dacă nu-l ascultă mai întâi și nu știe ce a făcut? Ei au răspuns și i-au zis: Nu cumva și tu ești din Galileea? Cercetează și vezi că din Galileea nu s-a ridicat prooroc. Deci iarăși le-a vorbit Iisus zicând: Eu sunt Lumina lumii; cel ce Îmi urmează Mie nu va umbla în întuneric, ci va avea lumina vieții."
