There are persistent reports that Albader Parad, an ASG sub-commander, reportedly beheaded Vagni, a few hours after a bloody encounter with the military which resulted to the death of one of Dr. Abu’s son. Parad’s wife and brother were also killed. The 53 year old Italian Vagni was reportedly buried in a shallow grave somewhere in Indanan Sulu. The last time that Vagni was reported alive was on June 2, the day he last called his wife. A member of the Bangsamoro Civil Society said that Vagni’s death could be true since attacks from the military have intensified. Probably, that led to the ASG surmising that government is not concerned with the safety of Vagni anymore. Vagni has been held hostage for more than six months already. Talks have bogged down between government emisaries and the ASG. The last encounter between the ASG and the military resulted to the death of seven Marines and about 15 suspected ASG members. Sulu gov makes it clear: No ransom for Vagni

We will not give them even a fraction of a centavo]," Tan said in an interview on dzXL radio. As Sulu governor, Tan heads the local crisis committee addressing the problem. He warned the Abu Sayyaf they face bigger problems if they kill Vagni. "Konsensya nila yan kung papatayin nila, depende sa kanila yan ... Kung papatayin nila, lalaki ang kanilang kaso [It will be on their conscience. If they kill Vagni, they face bigger problems]," he said. On Thursday, Philippine National Red Cross chairman Sen. Richard Gordon cited information reaching him indicating the Abu Sayyaf wants ransom for Vagni. The Abu Sayyaf abducted Vagni and fellow Red Cross workers Mary Jean Lacaba and Andreas Notter in Sulu last Jan. 15. They released Lacaba April 2, and Notter April 18. For his part, Philippine Navy spokesman Lt. Col. Edgard Arevalo said that while they are open to “talks" for Vagni’s release, the military is not keen on suspending its operations. Din surse neoficiale, rezulta totusi ca el a fost separat de restul grupului de ostateci ( banuiesc ca din cuaza greutatii sale de a se deplasa din cauza herniei), insa nu se stie unde, ca totusi nu ar fii mort, deoarece acum arabii cer mai multi bani. Ei insa va trebui sa dovedeasca faptul ca Eugenio este inca viu. Fapt este ca nu se stie nimic cu siguranta. Banuiesc sa daca trebuie sa fie o expertiza medicala acolo, se va face, insa nu se stie cine va trebui s-o ceara si cine sa o execute...
