Bishop Anthimos Draconakis is a retired hierarch of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America (GOA). He currently resides in the Metropolis of San Francisco.

The bishop has been accused by Despina Gallas of having sexual contact with her. Gallas, the daughter of a GOA priest, says that she was a teenager, but over the age of majority, when the contact was first initiated.

Gallas sued the GOA and Draconakis. The lawsuit was dismissed on procedural grounds, without any findings as to the merits of the claim.

Seraphim Randall Hayes

Aliases:
David Randall Hayes

DOB: 5/27/1973

Convicted

Height 6’2” Weight 350 lbs.

Seraphim Hayes was an Orthodox Layman and convert to the Orthodox Church when he came to our attention from Orthodox Christians who had visited St. Anthony’s Monastery in AZ. Many people shared the same spiritual father (Fr. Paisios) with Hayes.

According to court documents, he changed his name legally From Randall David Hayes to Seraphim Hayes. He has a history of inappropriate contact with young girls, which is documented in the case information at the Superior Court of AZ (Mariposa County). This information is public record. Unfortunately the mother of an 8-year-old girl was unaware of this history before she married him. Seraphim, who appeared to be a very devout Orthodox Christian Convert, was able to gain access to this little girl when he became her stepfather. He used every opportunity, including capitalizing on the fact that the girl’s mother (his wife) was hearing impaired, to gain access to this little girl and sexually abuse her.

Seraphim Hayes was arrested on 9 counts, which included kidnapping. But he was only convicted on the following two counts.

Offenses

Count 1: Sexual Abuse
Second Degree A.R.S
Date of Offense: On or about August 15, 2001 and December 25, 2001
On this count the defendant was sentenced to Four Years imprisonment and was committed to the AZ Department of Corrections.

Count 5 (Amended) Attempted Molestation of a child Class 3 Felony and Dangerous Crime against children in the second degree.
Date of Offense: On or about January 20 2001 to January 20, 2002.
On this count the defendant received LIFETIME probation including a requirement to register as a Sex Offender.

To the best of our knowledge, Hayes has completed his prison sentence. He is not listed on the AZ Sex Offender Registry as required. Pokrov also did a nationwide search and it appears he is not listed anywhere. Please contact Pokrov if you know of his whereabouts.

Father Angelo Kasemeotes

Aliases:
Angelo Kassimiotis

Convicted

Fr. Angelo Kasemeotes, a widower with two grown children, was arrested in Durham, North Carolina, on March 31, 1992. The priest was accused of molesting a fifteen year old boy from his neighborhood. At the time, Fr. Angelo was the rector of St. Barbara Church in Durham. St. Barbara was, and is, a parish of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America (GOA), Metropolis of Atlanta.

On December 2, 1992, Fr. Angelo pleaded guilty to the charges. He received a four year sentence, which the judge suspended. Although the priest was spared prison time, the judge ordered Fr. Angelo to serve twenty-one days in the Durham County Jail, followed by five years of probation. After completing his jail time, the priest was expected to move to Atlanta to live with his daughter and seek treatment for his alcoholism and sexual obsession.

Fr. Angelo was removed from his position at St. Barbara Church three days after his arrest. However, following his death in 1998, he was buried as a priest out of Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Annunciation is also a parish of the GOA, in the Metropolis of Chicago.

Fr. Angelo served St. Barbara Church in Durham for three years.

The priest also served at Annunciation in Milwaukee for fifteen years, ending with his 1986 resignation from that position. As reported in the Milwaukee Sentinel, the church board of Annunciation was not aware of any allegations involving the priest during his tenure there.

From Milwaukee, Fr. Angelo went to serve a small Orthodox community in Mexico City, Mexico.

Father Emmanuel Efthimios Koveos

Aliases:
Emmanuel Coveos

Convicted, Sanctioned

Father Emmanuel Efthimios Koveos

Father Emmanuel Efthimios Koveos was a priest with the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America (GOA), Metropolis of Boston.

From 1993 until his arrest for the sexual abuse of a 12 year old female parishioner in 1997, Koveos served at Dormition of the Mother of God Greek Orthodox Church in Burlington, Vermont.

Koveos was convicted of lewd and lascivious behavior with a child in 1998, following a jury trial. He was sentenced to 6 months to 5 years in prison, with all but 6 months of the sentence suspended. The priest ended up serving 4 months in prison.

According to court documents in the 1997 case, Koveos was also accused of sexual abuse by a woman from Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Concord, New Hampshire. The alleged attack occurred in 1988.

Koveos appealed his conviction, but it was upheld by the courts.

The GOA suspended Koveos from the priesthood after his arrest. He was returned to the status of a layman in late 1999.

In late 1999 the convicted and suspended Koveos was said to be serving as a chanter at Tranfiguration of Our Savior Greek Orthodox Church in Lowell, Massachusetts. Howwever, he was chanting for a separate parish that has been using Transfiguration on a temporary basis until it is ready to move into a new church building. Following this incident, Koveos was ordered to cease any activity related to parish life.

While Koveos was the pastor at St. Catherine Greek Orthodox Church in Quincy, Massachusetts, the parish council cut his salary in half and changed the locks on the church. The reason for this action was not reported. St. Catherine is now located in Braintree, Massachusetts.

Finally, it has also been alleged that Koveos was summoned to spiritual court in response to a report of clergy sexual misconduct while he served at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in McKeesport, Pennsylvania.

Koveos also served as a priest at churches in Lowell, Massachusetts and in Texas.

Criminal Cases:

People v. Koveos
Vermont Superior Court, County of Burlington
Case #17551 (1997)

Koveos was convicted of lewd and lascivious behavior with a child. He was sentenced to state prison for from 6 months to 5 years, with all but 6 months of the sentence suspended. After serving his sentence, he was to remain on probation for four and a half years and attend sex offender counseling weekly. Koveos was also to register as a sex offender.

Are si topicul acesta rostul lui. Exista insa cititori si pentru can-can religios.

Nota bene:

1. Nu mai dati cu fum incercand si sa aduceti in discutii cazurile care se intampla in unitatile de invatamant laice.
Evident, zic eu, comparatia nu isi are rostul.
