Our Church has always tried to treat people according to the Gospel, with great attention to repentance and to the spiritual development of the sinners.
In this case, in spite of the dramatic behaviour of m. Beniamin Nicusor Ilie, our Church tried to help him go back to a path of prayer and service. Therefore he was given the opportunity of beginning a different life somewhere else. But he did not stop acting according to such a terrible and scandalous behaviour that we could not remain in silence and let him take such an erroneous path.
It was therefore decided to reduce hin to the laical status, with an act of the Primate issued on 28 May 2009 (civ. calendar).
